Project Scope: Comprehensive Interior Renovation

Overview and Opportunity
This home was purchased by a young family drawn to its generous acreage, quiet suburban setting, and detached garage that will eventually be transformed into an ADU. While the 3,200 square foot layout already felt connected and family friendly, the finishes were original to the 1987 build and no longer supported the way the family lived. The kitchen was enclosed, the breakfast nook sat unused, and the home needed additional bathrooms and better storage to accommodate daily routines with three young children.
The opportunity was to preserve the strong existing layout while modernizing the home and improving function through thoughtful reconfiguration and well planned construction.

Results and Solutions
We removed multiple interior walls to fully open the kitchen to the surrounding living spaces, improving circulation, sightlines, and natural light. Structural coordination ensured the new open plan felt intentional and balanced. The former breakfast nook was enclosed and reimagined as a walk-in pantry, adding valuable storage and efficiency.

All bathrooms were fully gutted and redesigned. The primary bathroom and closet were reconfigured to eliminate wasted space, one long bathroom was divided into two, and functionality was significantly improved throughout. A new mudroom was added off the laundry room, creating individual after school drop zones for each child and helping the home stay organized and calm.

At the heart of the home, a stone-clad, double sided fireplace with solid wood mantles anchors the main living areas and creates a natural gathering point. Detailed construction drawings, including comprehensive electrical plans, were essential in translating the vision into a seamless build. The finished home feels warm, purposeful, and thoughtfully designed to support the rhythms of family life.
